Perempuan Berkalung Sorban

Salam all,

I've watched the movie Perempuan Berkalung Sorban twice and I absolutely love it! Better than Ayat-ayat Cinta coz it's related to how I feel about women being too dependent on men.

The main message that the movie is trying to convey is the 'hak' of women in Islam. You know how men or your partner always nagged at you, "Perempuan tak seharusnyer kluar malam2 tanpa teman, perempuan seharusnyer duduk kat umah masak, tolong mak, uat keje rumah. Perempuan tak payah keje, kena jaga anak dan makan minum suami. Perempuan tak secocok jadi pemimpin." Or women will sigh and say "I can't live without my husband or men. If he divorce me, how am I going to survive? With kids and without money.."

I am glad that I have best friends who are also financially independent as me. We have the same thinking, "Don't depend too much on men". We've been in the same situation where for years, we've been living in an invisible cell where we cannot voice out our point of view and life is being controlled too much. That's why we have learnt our lesson after we have break out from that cell and the freedom we felt is heaven.

This movie have not come out in Singapore yet. It was published in Indonesia early this year. I strongly recommend you guys to watch it. It's a must! Haha..

Nevertheless, at certain times we need teman hidup.. I shall end this entry with a qoute from the movie,

"Jangan sebut aku perempuan sejati jika hidup hanya berkalang lelaki, tapi bukan berarti aku tidak butuh lelaki untuk aku cintai.."
