I will never miss out to go Geylang bazaar on the eve of raya just to get henna done. Year after year, the henna price keep increasing. I remembered when I was young, it was only $5 per hand, include nails. Then, it's exclude nail. Followed by $7/hand... $10/hand and now sky-high to $12/hand.
You can find $5 henna at the bazaar but the design are not so detail and smooth like the expensive ones.
My sis & I got our henna done ($12/hand) by my her friend working under Saheli. Although they claim that this henna paste last longer than the original one, to me, it makes no difference. The color will start to fade after 5 days.
Thinking how much it will cost next year, motivate me to do design my own henna. It takes practice and I'm working on it. Like this one:
