Dissappointed

Assalamualaikum..

I am so frustrated during tutoring today. I had to take over the whole lot of sec two, 8 students in total- NA plus Exp. I just don’t know how to handle both two different streams together because they had different pace of learning. Esp Zahid, an express student from Gvt High. He always answers my question right. And my own NA students, rarely answer my questions. When I asked them, they said “dunnoe”.

So, I asked them back, “Oh, you mean in exam paper can write ‘don’t know’ as the answer?”

They laughed. But I’m trying to be sarcastic.

I got more frustrated when they could not get a simple answer right although every week I asked the same question: - x - = ?

They said it’s negative.
Finally, Zahid got it right, it is positive. I never failed to test exactly the same question but still they ‘forgot’.

End up, I scolded them like mad.

I’m not pissed off with them actually. But with myself. I mean, what should I do to make them get it. I did question by question slowly, step by step to ensure that everyone of them understands it. I told them stories to make the lesson interesting, I make jokes so they don’t get bored and I try to be as strict as possible…

Adib told me I did a very great job in teaching them, he said it was interesting and creative. I was shocked. I told him I am the one who is more stress than they do. Then, Adib was so kind that he volunteered to take over my class if I can’t handle it. I said, ok at first but when I think back, I just prefer to continue teaching them. I can’t give up, or else I will set a bad example for them. My main aim by the end of this year is to improve their grades…I can do it!

Afterwards, went to religious class as per normal. It was okay.
